Yosemite and the Battle of Nectarine Rock

One of the highlights of our summer, we spent the day hiking through Tuolumne Meadows and up Lembert Dome, finishing it off with an epic water fight at the Battle of Nectarine Rock.

The hunter becoming the hunted at the Battle of Nectarine Rock

This being my first trip with homegroup2, imagine my shock as I witnessed our dear sisters, who are usually so warm and friendly, mercilessly chasing down and judo-flipping their helpless, younger sisters into the water. In sharp contrast, but just as appalling, were the senior brothers, who, as their younger comrades were falling one by one at the hands of the older, but stronger and just simply superior brother staff, were hiding among the trees and nowhere to be found. As the Battle of Nectarine Rock drew to a close, and as splashing water on the already-completely-soaked started losing its appeal, the senior brothers’ treacherous cowardice was discovered, and thus began the Massacre of Nectarine Rock.

Thankfully, food heals all wounds, and back at the lodge that evening, we feasted on some dishgracepoint-worthy home-cookin’ and finished off the night with some hilarious Best of the Best games. Here’s a collage of some pictures from the trip. Enjoy! And hope to see you all on our next trip!

  1. Thanks everyone for such a great trip. I don’t think I’ll forget the image of Tommy wearing a green ‘Hunter’ shirt hiding behind a tree and sticking his head out to take a peek at the action. That was disgracepoint worthy!

  2. Thanks Suzie for the collage! The battle was unforgettable. But Jon did forget to mention that two sister staff were also in hiding while the rest of us were in dire need of support against the unchivalrous bros. They know who they are!!

  3. Even though I was enlisted by Annie to bombard the rest of the sisters, I would like to state for the record that they were anything BUT helpless. I think I went partially deaf from the shrieks emitted as they were dragged into the water.
I gotta admit though, there were a few brothers (and I think, sisters) that just relented and simply meandered into the water as if they hadn’t been terrified of getting wet for the past hour.
And then I wondered why anyone would put up a fight when they know that getting doused was inevitable.

  4. The most unforgettable memories from the Battle at Nectarine Rock were: 1) Dennis Pleskot losing his sanity for a brief period and dunking Ben underwater and 2) Jenny Yen suplexing Editha into the water.
